Chiseling Away the Fault
Like Michelangelo, who with a mighty chisel
chipped Moses's knee and afterward he felt very guilty
of having done that terrible thing with an angry will;
he was wrong at thinking it looked too real, almost fleshy;
and like Him, I expected more from my craft,
but we both were wrong....did we recognize our fault?
Expectations mustn't be greater than our ability or comprehension
to create a masterpiece that others will admire,
criticize or even ignore...all our senses must feel that self-satisfaction
of having completed it in the shortest time without doubt or dire!
Whatever your craft is excel and accept critique;
why compare your work with another...isn't yours also unique?
Recognition is obtained through patience and diligent work,
we may die before anyone will stop and look;
become the new sculptor chiseling away the fault,
pausing to reflect upon it: always thinking it's an art!
