Chill Breath of Winter

Winter's chill breath clouded my windowpanes Snowdrifts covered Autumn's shades of umber I listened to music, composed in wistful strains My family were all abed, snuggled in slumber Nostalgic tears fell; far too many to number My sad thoughts were replaced by a smile as I staunched the swell that freely flowed Grateful for my blessings, now and erstwhile for upon me God's grace has been bestowed I closed my eyes, praying as candles glowed December 13, 2021 Winter Quintain Contest Hosted by Francine Roberts

Winter has always been my least favorite season and I could feel the chill in this one, Lin, nicely penned. Congrats on your placement. John

Wow! Congrats! Thanks for sharing this... making me virtually experience wintry delight in my "winterless" country... though it's cold in our place now. God bless you.

Such an inspiring, beautifully crafted piecce my friend. I being of Native American bloodline am not at all happy when Winter arrives. I do so fully favor warm weather, Summer waves of grain, golden in the high gasping sun. Swims in cool flowing waters and having heaps of good fun....... A fav.. God bless..

Thanks so much, Robert. No more cold weathr for me since I moved back home in the South. Nearly 70 at the moment, and that's just fine with me.

No, silly. No withdrawals. I thank you for your wishes, Milt. I don't celebrate the season, but it's kinda nice that MOST people prefer to be civil to each other during that time.

You create a very tranquil scene Lin, at peace with yourself and God whilst the candles glowed. Enjoy the coming week. Tom

Thanks for your comments and well wishes for the coming week, Tom. I plan to have a good one, and hope you do, as well. Lots of chillin' needs to happen in the soup. Too many hot peppers have been thrown in lately.
