Chill

Temperature dropping overnight bringing a crisp morning at daylight The cooling sensation of a light northern wind Slightly numbing the face with a mild, pleasurable, sting Blowing tree leaves that have just begun their vibrant color change Wind increasing creating a mini tempest among last year’s fallen leaves Fall memories awakening Blue sky turning a light gray A short burst of falling snow flakes Chimneys coming back to life With the sweet-acrid smell of the season’s first fireplace fires Floating into the air Shortening daylight Sunset pulling the blanket of night and eventually winter over all

This poem is a metaphoric masterpiece Warren. The last line exquisitely penned.
