Childhood With My Siblings
"How sweet to the heart are the scenes of my childhood"
Samuel Woodworth, 1785-1842
One thing that we kids loved was listening
to Disney records. Then when came first snow
we’d run outside and see it glistening.
Down hills on sleds so gleefully we’d go,
or on a frozen pond we liked to skate.
Boots and scarves we wore, for cold winds would blow.
But it was summer for which we could not wait,
rejoicing in June, once let out of school!
Chasing fireflies into night, we stayed up late.
Sometimes we walked two miles to city pool.
Later we got bikes and rode them in the sun.
We loved “hose play,” in the spray – staying cool!
Kickball; playing in the park till day was done!
Childhood with my siblings was so much fun.
