Cherish the Memories of the Heart

The day I smiled at those who at me frowned, Saved the lives of the drowned, Befriended my foes. Enlightened those in despondence and woes. Transformed the ruthless into merciful, The treacherous into pitiful, Served the unfortunates and the downtrodden, The widows and the orphans. The disabled and the crumbled The oppressed and the confounded. I sang the song of peace and harmony, of bliss and tranquility. The waves of happiness flowed unto me, I was as free as a bee. Talked to the flowers and trees, Memories flowed like seas, I stand here at the end of the day, To see all folks content, happy and gay. Today I cherish the memories of the heart Happiness given is happiness gained In life which is short, long is the art.
