Chatterbox

"Have you heard the latest news?",
a pair of socks said to the shoes.
Said the shoes unto the socks,
"Don't be such a chatterbox!

How can our owner take a walk
if we just sit around and talk?
Hurry up, get on his feet.
Our job, I can then complete."

Thus, a gentleman took his walk,
but on his feet, there was much talk
between two shoes and bright green socks,
who, frankly, was a chatterbox.

Love what you have done here David. A very entertaining read which could also explain that when my shoes squeak it is them just having a good chat lol. Emilia : )

Haha, yep, as you probably know it was your use of the word "chatterbox" that inspired me to write this one.

Thanks Kim! A friend of mine here in PoetrySoup made a comment, using the word "chatterbox", which struck me as funny for some reason. I hope she reads this poem.

Green socks said to the shoes, you inspire my desire to talk every time we go for a walk. The gentleman changed his socks to red, but they sound an alarm with every step he treads… Beryl

Are greens and reds the best hues for socks that live inside shoes? Come to think of it, I might choose socks in purples or in blues.

Thanks Sara, have a great evening! I sent you a couple of Soupmails, trying to get your permission to use you a few lines in your poems for Crystol's Cento contest, but I'm not sure they're going through because, your name doesn't show under people whom I've sent Soupmails to. Would you be able to Soupmail me and let me know if it's OK to use your stuff?
