Chasing the Midnight Muse
First intense the passion, that lights the midnight muse
then flows like spirits to be born, emotions setting loose,
and gives incite to logos thought for hearing of the words,
in a pre-ordained release of sound that chastens to be heard.
This is what the poem has meant for many prone to write
a sadness or a hurt healed by the balm of poetic light,
catharsis of despair in metered metaphor and rhyme,
a work complete with satisfaction settled in the mind.
Now it seems that many things, we see, feel, think and do
are soon the words that make a midnight poem for some to view.
At times our muse will hide away and then refuse to speak.
Turn off your computer and get much needed sleep.
