In the midst of grief I find myself chasing sleep I have tried sleepy time teas and kitty cuddles to please help me lasso the moon and find some sleep soon but no, it evades and I feel like I will fade

this poem is amazing, i've always seen sleep as a vessel to escape reality when things get hard. sometimes all we want is temporary reprieve from the tragedies of life. also, could sleep be a metaphor for death? because of how when one is asleep you are essentially cosplaying it. either way, this poem is phenomenal!!

Thank you, Phaedra. I had not intended sleep as a metaphor for death, but I have had many thoughts of heaven since my son died, so that is an interesting way to look at it. Thanks for reading!
