Notes About The Poem

Chaplinesque

I am a silent movie,
a corny melodrama
played in black and white
with an observable flicker.
A little tramp
accompanied by ragtime piano.

You are pure A-list
Technicolor,
Dolby digital
THX, IMAX laser,
Oscar winner
3D blockbuster.

And yet you love
me.

This arouses so many emotions in me. A truly original love poem. That's just so tender and betrays all the vulnerability love entails. I hope the recipient scooped you up, in a big hug!

Great contrast and ambiguity, John, and I love the nod to Uncle Charlie - a brilliant poet in his own right, (and a poet of movement, I might add). Enjoyed this very much, and I never read the POTD ... congrats for that - they got this one right! Blessings, Bud! :o)

This was a fun contrast. The modern day could learn a thing or two about the golden age of Hollywood (the acting was certainly of a higher caliber than a lot of present day films). Thanks for sharing a smile with this quirky little gem.

Sandra, thanks for the second visit - a double feature, as we used to say. I remember going to see two movies for 75 cents in the 70's. Now that will buy me a half hour on a parking meter! Appreciate you and your friendship. Hugs ~ John
