Change of Season

Leaves are fluttering in sunlight Soon, they'll all wither and turn gold Chilled air now takes a nipping bite Scenic ambience I behold Summer days dwindle while wending Leaves are fluttering in sunlight Another season soon ending Skies darken earlier each night Today, a flock of geese took flight All that's green will soon disappear Leaves are fluttering in sunlight Near their shedding time of the year Brisk winds will blow them all aground It saddens me to know their plight for great beauty in them I've found Leaves are fluttering in sunlight August 15, 2022 Hint of Autumn Contest Sponsor: Gina McIntosh

Jenna, you have effortlessly captured that seamless transition from summer to fall - a transition that almost goes unnoticed except for the subtle, yet ongoing, changes! Best wishes for the contest. Blessings of golden leaves and crisp evenings!

I too wish the colored leaves could remain on the trees longer. They display such glory. Your entry is very lovely Jenna. Autumn is my favorite season. I used to visit my friends in Illinois every year in autumn to enjoy the beauty. Blessings xxoo

Here is northeastern Kentucky, we are seeing so many hints of autumn. Even the air feels like autumn. I liked your poem, especially the "leaves fluttering in sunlight." Very descriptive of the sycamores in my back yard. Nice writing, Jenna.

It's hot and humid here as well, Darlene. However, the contest themed required we write about hints of Autumn, and this is what transpired. Thanks so much for your many comments.
