Challenged (confessions of an enabler)
I am addicted to love,
Not by chance, but total romance.
I was slain, not once but many times.
Perhaps that is because I am vain?
I can not help myself,
to abstain even from the pain.
I love.
I love to love…
I love to love too much?
I am destined and drained,
But I never refrained.
The demons of the night
Are those that I fight,
taking advantage of my plight.
Woes…
I have them.
Written for contest
addicted, slain, demons, vain, abstain, woes, destined, drained
14-24 lines
Enabler definition - one that enables another to achieve and/or to persist in self-destructive behavior (drugs or abuse) by giving them excuses.
