Celebration of Life
Today began with a beautiful sunrise at my home
Shades of bright orange shined in the dark
It was the early hours of the day for celebration of a life
As I traveled to the church, I passed snow-capped mountains
Glimmering in the morning sun, diamonds in the sky
Then, I attended a beautiful funeral service
The song called, ‘On the wings of Eagles’ touched me
I wept tears of grief in this flight of parting
Then, there was a slide show of photographs from your life
The most amazing part is how much you gave to people in so many ways
I have never met anyone who has given so much
From serving the country as a Navy Chief, to serving the state as a representative,
To doing many activities in the church, to volunteering so many places,
To professional counseling with those in need ….
I believe you have a high place in heaven
Your faith led you to reach so many people; friends, family and community
God worked through you and you served him well
I could only think about the best thing I can give you now
It is to strive to be these things more fully, to give and fulfill a purpose
I am forever grateful for your friendship, as it lives on in my heart
You have spread inspiration like a shining star, truthfully, you are a star
Blessings my friend
*Goodbye; but only in body, not in spirit, heart or mind
I will pass on what you have given as best I can
From sunrise to sunset, from earth to heaven…
Let me shine to be a star with you, twinkling with hope for all to see!
