Caterpillar Castles
A boring life to always eat,
and have to clean so many feet.
Humped up among the forest green,
I munch my way to sights unseen.
Who knows the sorrows of my heart?
I don't have time for love or art.
My stomach rules this weary life.
No nagging from a teary wife.
So leaves at breakfast, noon and night.
It's good that I'm not scared of heights.
I'll never starve in this abode,
But what a mess if I explode!
With clouds above and earth below,
a little rain and leaves will grow.
At night the fairies come and dance.
The moon shines bright till morning's prance.
A castle sways for every tree,
And they're all planted just for me.
Someday I think I'd like to try
To flutter like a butterfly.
