I’d love to get a horse when I turn seven - I’ll ride him in the sky way up to heaven. Or I could get a puppy – I can name him “Batman”! If he’s too wild then I’ll tame him. I love when in my dreams I get to fly Like superman, high up into the sky. I look down at my friends and mom and dad With brother getting all jealous and mad! I may not get the horse or dog I’d like Perhaps instead I’ll get a new red bike. Maybe my dad will take us to the park - I’ll ride my favorite carousel till dark.

Sandra, thanks for making a second lap with this one. Your encouragement always means so much to me. There will be satisfaction in knowing when we get through this crisis, we poets helped each other get through it. Hugs ~ John

Aw, I can see the little guy and his puppy, 'Batman' - riding his carousel horse through the plains of imagination - best wishes for the contest, John!

'Batman' seemed like something a 6-year-old would name his dream dog. I named my cat 'Bullwinkle' when I was that age. I try to remember what it was like at that age, but it's getting harder the further away it gets! Thanks, Michelle.

Your enchanting pen never fails to charm my heart and imagination, John. The beautiful musing of a child is cast in lush and lovely rhythmic lines of imagery that can't help but tie me around your poem's little finger. I had a lot of the same dreams then too; horses, puppies, new bikes, wishing I could fly - I still love it when I fly in my dreams, which happens far less these days than I'd like.. and I did love the carousel too!:) A brilliant poem that brought me back in time. I relished the journey. Thank you, my wonderful friend. Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes for you always.. ~Susan

It's sad how we remain grounded so much more as we get older, John, we don't soar as we once did.. like you I did get my beloved puppy and my bike and my Dad would take us to the carousel, which I loved.. and though he took me horseback riding, my dream of having my own horse never came true. I'm still holding out on that one though.. lol! C'est la vie!

Susan, I'm so glad I hit all the high notes of your 6-year-old dreams! I never have flying dreams any more - I miss them! I did get a puppy on my 9th birthday and a red bike on my 10th; never got a horse though! Thank you heartily for your enthusiasm and encouraging comments - I'm happy you enjoyed this brief journey in my time machine! Hugs ~ John

Shame we tend to lose our dreams and imagination as we get older John. Oh to be seven again. Good luck. Stay safe and well. Tom

It is a shame, at least from the imagination and wonder side of it. Hopefully I have matured some in responsibility and selflessness, lol! Thanks for the visit Tom. Hope all is well with you in the U.K. You stay safe and well too. ~ John

Jan, some days I still feel like a 6-year-old trapped in a 60-year-old body! A little strange seeing a 6-year-old writing in iambic pentameter, though!
