Cards of Lies

Nothing stays the same, fragrant flowers fade, cloaked in shame, am I to take the blame? when rainbows abandon colors, twisting pristine purple into pale grey vapor. Masks eventually slip and cards of lies unfold~ reversed angels, orchestrating cruel charades.

Every word is utilized is this short poem to pack a powerful punch. An excellent example of not using fancy words just to fit them into a poem for the fun of it. I’d like to see AI try to come up with anything half as clever as that!

A poem fraught with the pain of betrayal... The question- "Am I to take the blame" comes down as an arrow piercing! In a few lines you have exposed the torment of a heart cruelly cheated with a pack of lies and a false appearance as an angel while being a demon !

Dear Empress, soulful poetess, your poem is expressive and impressive with dramatic and dynamic imagery and metaphors. Your golden pen spills poetic brilliance with verse like "am I to take the blame?/when rainbows abandon colors" Your thought-provoking artistry and creative phrases convey the exquisite pain and deep rich sadness of betrayal "Masks eventually slip and cards of lies unfold". Your last line with "reversed angels" is telling and a vivid finale to a poignant piece. Warmest wishes my sweet friend.. I hope your heart is in one piece.. ~Susan

when rainbows abandon colors--when that happens something has gone terribly wrong! Emotive write, Ink--it is true, nothing says the same. Your poem--an invitation to pause and think.

A little scary at the end, but the disloyal angels really summed it up. I appreciate your poem for its honesty and warnings.

dearest Ink--this was such a soulful poem. I agree, nothing stays the same. Betrayal changes every thing...for me, betrayal is a huge, disappointing lie. I've known some 'fallen angels in my time--friends, colleagues, even in-laws, etc. Hard reality to accept at times. Initially I feel crushed but have developed a bit of a tough skin saying 'that's them, not me...don't blame me.' (hope I'm making sense.) Have a pleasant weekend ahead, hugs, Sara

Interesting perspective. For me the written salutation tells the story. I’m not much of a Hallmark kinda guy. When it comes to cards I prefer a deck of 52. ;0)

For sure, if someone is lying it will be found out if we are willing to find out. I agree change is coming if we hang around long enough. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Interesting poem dear poet... are broken promises regarded as lies? You are right nothing stays the same, except for the sun and moon, you wrote a deep short verse here, which seems to have a personal hidden meaning for you..is a reversed angel a demon? Apparently the devil was an angel first... interesting thoughts dear poet..

Beautifully said Sweet Ink….”Be Mindful”!! and stay away from those negative , toxic people …..don't let your disappointment in others and their dishonest behaviour consume you….easier said than done l know.! There are many good authentic souls in this world…hold on to that thought when you're feeling disillusioned or hurt…..been there done that! Oops…. l hope this doesn't sound like a lecture ….l just relate to your words! Debx

Ah dear debx, wow you actually felt my words and the underlying depth of pain that flows: this is written from a place of sadness as i taste betrayal. And worst kind of betrayal comes not from those that you think may be against you, but those that you trust with your eyes closed and consider as angels. Sad reality: i intend to do better and not trust so much anymore I appreciate you reminding me this. Thank you so very much

Masks must slip…lies come out and lies create their own prison. Best to be genuine, honest, forthcoming…then you can breathe. …rainbows abandon color, purple into pale gray vapor… I’ve noticed when we are very mad or down, we don’t see color so if I am I purpose to see, to turn things around! Hugs ~ Kim
