Capture the Moment

There is a singular moment when the
Sunset is at its most brilliant….
Just before the color begins to fade,
Still lovely but past its prime.

A moment the wave is at its crest,
Just before it plunges into oblivion.
To capture the force of nature
repeated, but never exactly the same.

The second before a smile fades
And the mirror reflects insincerity
The instant the breeze lifts the leaf
just so, before the hurricane unleashed..

These seconds are priceless,
The genius of capturing them
Is art that shines with triumph….
The knowing, the feeling of time.

To capture the moment with poetry
The time that words drip like honey.
They come unfettered like quicksilver…
A gift to take, and then honor the giver.

The beauty of your poem matches the beauty of the sunset you describe Barbara. I love the way you match this with the second befor a smile fades. This is a beautiful metaphoric illustration. Sincerely, Love, Moses
