Capricious Rain

Capricious Rain

The air was a hot slap in the face,
But there was an errand to be done,
Perhaps we could beat the threatening rain,
That was dark and determined to come.

Suddenly drops fell in quarter sized splashes,
Wipers struggled to erase them,
The errand barely accomplished, when
Rain drenched we headed home and then.

Into the driveway so safe and dry,
The rain stopped falling from the leaden sky,
It mocked us and said “You can’t out-fox me
I’ll pour if and as and when I see.”

A beautiful write Sunlite. The rhythm and imagery are wonderful. And I love the word 'capricious'; I think your title is an excellent first line (or extra line) to your poem. Great poem! :)

That is the way of the rain. I remember as a child it used to come every day at three. Now it comes when ever it wants to. This is a keeper. We'll done.
