Cant Feel the Wind

They say fantasy is in the wind But I can see it everywhere We’re all chasing empty beauty And that’s before the bubble’s pop Reality is just complex delusion Too successful to taste freedom Thinking we’ve lived and loved Because that’s what we are told But what if it was just control The only truth was in my dreams Nothing real or what it seems Imagination dies.. children cry While the wall is being built Locking us in, can’t feel the wind Love locked out.. fear begins We don’t give it a second thought Distracted until we go blind Entertained to the slaughter Like our parents before us And we think we had a nice life They called it real, it was fantasy Pure love danced right past us In the wind and in our dreams It was never the fantasy Freedom was and will forever be Inside the mind what you can’t see While they fight to keep control The only truth is in my dreams Nothing real or what it seems Imagination dies.. children cry While the wall is being built Locking us in, can’t feel the wind Love locked out.. fear begins Still, passion rides the wind Dreams are my reality And if somehow this isn’t... Never wake me up! ~Lyric Man Note: A rainy, melancholy day set the mood to pen this “R & B tune” that talks about the farce.. so many call life. Imagination is chased out of children until childlike wonder is extinct. The blind lead the blind into empty lives while love rides on the wind of forgotten dreams. Fantasy in many respects was the true reality, but we are conditioned to miss it. From our youth, society builds walls to “protect” us, but in truth they in-prison us. We lose our awe of senses, including self awareness. Our lives get diluted into septic pits we are conditioned into thinking is normal. An we are being entertained to distract us from the approaching slaughter. Society rapes our innocence, robs our freedom, and hides us from daring love. And the mindless masses sleep walk to their grave. For most people, by the time they are 40.. their most “real” moments are in their dreams. And on this rainy day of dreaming my only fear is waking up and being like the real world!

You have the knack of picking up on threads that run through many other minds and chronicling them via the medium of poetry - pretty fair poetry too. Will peruse your library again before Christmas. Regards David in NZ

Lyric Man, you have indeed penned a melancholy poem, but one with a lot of truth to it, for myself, day by day I lay another brick in my wall to protect me from life, my only escape is dreams and writing (and dancing) and sometimes that is where I want to stay. Well done !

Reality is right before us, and you have expressed this perfectly. Even in dreams, truth invades. However, I think dreams are meant to leave you breathless. (My simple thoughts) The heart can be overwhelmed by truth. I know I feel moments around me, negative in the World. I suppose that is why I feel the positive touch of the wind. It's who I am. My personality. Never let the weight of the world bring you down. You are meant to fly. The wind will lift you up. ~ Brandy

God never changes. He is always the same. If I want a life I have to stay doing what God would have me to do. The packing is always changing but it still doesn't make it right. I tell my children this all the time. I am not after gold, beauty, or money. I am after living my life to it's fullest. Which I am doing plus giving people a chance to see the light that I hope is shining from within me. Great lyrics.

Heavy and thought provoking. I have been feeling like this for a while now. I love the raw emotion you put into your lyrics.

Enjoyed your verse Dave, society conditions us from an early age for sure and so many go along with it thinking that this is how things should be, but there is certainly more to life.

Changing with the times is not easy but a necessity. Holding onto dreams until we make them a reality makes good sense and is rewarded with the amount of effort expended. I enjoyed your darker view of life's trials David. I think I have your name right. : )

Connie, I’ve noticed the packaging changes but life is always going to be life. God created us with so much potential and as society “advances” we actually can lose much of that if we aren’t careful. It’s easy for us to get physically, emotionally, and spiritually lazy and it’s easy for society to control our power if we are thus conditioned.. and falling prey to societal norms often minimizes our potential and sadly much of the joy in our lives

What a sad take on life LM a d it's unusual for you to write a melancholy lyric... some only get through life by holding on to their dreams... there must be more to our existance than this, hugs Jan x

I didn’t mean it as distinctively sad, so much as brutally honest and contemplative. Life is so much more than worshiping shiny, expensive things. One of our greatest gifts is imagination and for most it is driven out of them by 20. I don’t ever want to lose my child-like wonder!
