Candyland to Gangland

.
I remember back in the day.
Grandmother would take us downtown.
Mostly to window shop, as she was poor.
On rare occasions, she'd by us a treat or a toy.
"Downtown was magical, my Candyland
Now when I hear it, I don't smile.
I think of drugs, hopelessness, cherries and crime
, early death, slow decay.in Gangland
