Candy Pennies

Candy pennies were once all the rage
Everyone clamored for just a taste
But history quickly turned that page
And slammed the book shut post haste!

Here is why, when a child swallowed five
Caught in his throat, they didn't tickle
To cough them up was what he tried
but instead, up popped a candy nickel!

A massive recall was their attack
To make the story even shorter
They attempted to get them all back
Afraid someone would try for a quarter!
