Can You See the Real Me
I hide myself away from the world
The need to protect myself is strong
Afraid of rejection and judgement
Never letting my insecurities outwardly show
I plaster a big smile on my face
But I really don’t feel like smiling
I wear a mask of humour
I deflect with sarcasm
But that’s not who I really am
I long to meet someone special
Who can make my heart soar
Someone who sees past my flaws
I could put my defences down
I could be myself for a change
I will keep on searching
For the one to set me free
Someone willing to take a chance
Can you see the real me?
