Can You Feel It

I have spent,
              a lifetime,
being calm___________cool collected---afraid to show the darkness!
U n a w a r e,
             of the freedom,
that comes from releasing the beast, no longer muzzling the dog!!!!
Growling low,
             from deep in my chest,
fists clenched and released, red flush in my face and chest.
I feed off your fear,
as you look into my eyes,
you my tormentor SURPRISED as you watch me rise.
Big man,
      see my new found addiction,
I'm in a heightened state, no longer afraid, an uncontained contradiction.
Interruption,
            between heart and brain,
moving from soft spoken to someone I can't explain!
Powerful emotion,
               to me my weakness personified,
letting my self completely go, spectating from deep inside.
ANGER e r u p t s,
fifty four years of playing the stamp collecting game,
I'm the one at fault but others think you're to BLAME!

Well expressed! I love how you captured this emotion, I can relate because I have anger issues myself. I even bought a punching bag and joined a boxing gym just to get it all out without hurting others or myself. This is a masterpiece +7

Richard this is the write that anyone that has ever been in road rage should read. Because this is the exact transformation that takes place when someone cuts you off while your driving. It is a true description of the worst side of humans. I guess if you were saving someone from being bullied and you became enraged to protect it takes a positive note. This was cleverly written enjoyed reading and I always hope to be in control only because when we are in a state on anger we loose control and the anger controls us to act. Thanks for sharing my friend a winner in my book!

There are times when anger can be harnessed for noble purposes. That is an astute observation my friend.

In ancient Greece there was a time in the year during certain festivals of Dionysus that people allowed themselves to do things that during the whole year were controlling. No question this poem of yours is a profound analysis of our psycho synthesis and the battle that goes on between the opposites. Outstanding, dear Richard. A seven! Fifty-four? You are a child my friend, you are still a child, haha!

Hello Demetrios, Our Heavenly Father has given us all emotions for a reason. Anger is an emotion that has profoundly shaped the world we live in and is worthy of deep contemplation. When harnessed it can motivate us to do good and in fact move mountains. Thanks for your analysis of this piece and for looking below the surface.

I hope you are right, I would be really "angry" if she didn't like it. Ha ha, sorry I couldn't resist. Growing up I seen what a destructive force anger is. Therefore my heart greatly prizes peace. As a result I see people differently even when they are angry with me. Thanks for visit and hug.:0)

I am like you, Richard. Rarely do I blow up! I think I cannot do anger for this contest. By the way, I noticed Anger appeared in the third line from the bottom. In her rules I'm sure she says not to mention the word you are describing until you reach the final line. Hopefully you can adjust the poem and make that winners' list!

I kind of relate to this, I'm the eternal bottler, the peaceful guy, and then when the beast comes out some poor bugger that's rattled the cage gets 3-4 years of anger unleashed in a torrent of words and they wilt at the shock!
