HELLO! … Hello … hello (hello … hello …) OUT THERE! … Out There … out there … (out there … ) Silence---deep, dark, impenetrable---washes over me My gaze takes in the vast sweep of starlight on a clear night Knowing all of that it is but a mere speck in the grand scheme of things... It's hard to believe that we're alone, isn't it? … Yet let's see some evidence that we are not. I've been looking at the odds ever since Isaac Asimov calculated them in the 1970's, and those odds always favor intelligent life out there. And yet...
