Cake Bombs
Men with chests and muscles set on trail
war had ripened, enemies were to be harvested
they filed along narrow path
a path that could transform all into charcoal
Bombs were thrown, bullets fired
enemies sited took cover
surprise, enigma emerged mixed with confusion
each bomb thrown exploded into cakes
bullets fired scattered sweets, not death
Tear-gas canisters transformed into milk-cans
children, women enjoyed music of blasts
and collected cakes, sweets, milk bottles in joy
Invading army halted action in confusion
“Magic, magic, witchcraft”, they shouted
“Never have we seen this miracle of war”
foolish, startled and lost they were
Another trial they made with little success
cakes, sweets, milk, cakes, sweets, milk
no causalities, no prisoners of war
all who appeared were innocent children, women
persons fond of cakes, sweets, milk!
Embarrassed, defeated, fooled
invading soldiers joined the joyful
they celebrated, danced, sang love songs
and all prayed, “It should be like this every day”
