By Water's Edge

Sitting reminiscing
About the subtle signs
Along one’s journey

The roads not traveled
The messages so hard to read
Reminders meant for the soul
Heart longings heard
And those that aren’t

Life passing by
Not taking time to play
Invitations postponed
Believing there’d always be another day
Friends taken for granted
So few opportunities fully grasped

Yet life there for the taking
The seeds of joy neglected
Quiet whispers of could have been
Once the sun goes down
Leaving all our regrets
On the water’s edge

This is so true Line, especially when we are young and feel life is forever. Ii is not until we reach a certain age that we realise those missed opportunities and start to appreciate every hour of every day. Such a thought provoking write and congratulations on your 1st place, in Brian's contest. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Perfectly described catalogue of lost opportunities, which all can relate to. This rings so very true and very well written.

"Life passing by Not taking time to play Invitations postponed" - we do this to ourselves, so please, let's "leave our regrets on the water's edge!"
