Butterfly Love

I fell in love with a butterfly
And painfully set him free.
I let him go because I love him so
And I know that he loves me

You see, there was a window in our cocoon
He kept looking out
The grass looked so much greener
That he longed to roam about.

I tried so hard to convince him
That it was only an illusion
Together we could conquer all
And overcome confusion

Then one day I broke the window
Because I knew it was silly of me
To hold on to this butterfly
That wanted so much to be free.

There was a storm the day he left
I gladly welcomed the rain.
The raindrops covered my teardrops
A painted smile covered the pain

One beautiful sunny afternoon
My heart overflowed with glee
When through my broken window
My butterfly flew back to me

Wow, well done, a lot of feeling and imagery...one's hope is the butterfly has found home. Hugs, Ed
