Butterfly Dreams

Saturday
The day she rewrote herself
No more sad songs
With livelier tunes she sings along
She has welcomed the call of opposites
When she wishes to be alone she calls a friend
If she is sad she tries on happy
At first a game of pretend

She changes her hair
Relishes how the young men stare
Subtle differences from the outside in
She knows all things have to begin
One step at a time
Rewritten line by line

This all feels like a Dream
The changes pick up steam
She now looks in the mirror
She's not confronted by fear
She doesn't look away
Her life has become OK

Not a simple chore
But this woman wanted more
Tired of waiting
Locked behind a dark door
That was not the life
She had been made for

That other her
Has gone away
Endless night
Exchanged for day

Reality from imagination
The person she is was there
She may not have known
Yet others were aware
Butterfly wings
Beauty redefined
Etched in bright colors
Spread out with her mind

Dedicated to Colleen

I haven't heard from her in a while. I know the feeling a few of my recent ones have also been N/A. I know they are decent so I will rest on that.

Thank you so much for your love and kindness. I am leaving the soup. Can't deal with the drama on here. I am having surgery tomorrow morning. The infection is so bad they are keeping me after surgery instead of outpatient. 6 months of hurting I hope this takes care of it. Keep that pen flowing. Love Colleen

Sorry to hear you are leaving, I try to float above the drama but must admit my bubble gets popped from time to time. You are still in my prayers, I hope you change your mind.

Sometimes I get a bit carried away with my commenting! I'll be sitting at my desk with the intention of posting a "short and sweet" comment, and it ends up being pages long... but I'm glad I don't bore you with my excessive rambling... LOL!

I don't know Colleen very well, but the few times I have seen her around she seems like a very kind soul. I loved the part that went "That is the not life she has been made for"... it's captivating and makes me think of imprisonment... of knowing there's so much more out for you, but all you have at this moment is a window so you can see what you're missing. I hope she likes her dedication (I sure did).

Such a display of images... You always know what to write and how to express it in the most elegant way. Reading you is like looking at a craftsman tediously working on a canvas. The more we looked and anticipated, the more the images flicker here and there to assemble with the last touch a complete work of art!!
