BUTTERFLIES OF BEAUTY
Metamorphosis unfolds.
The slimy bug has wings of gold.
As if kissed by springtime dew,
a handsome prince appears all new.
A perfect poise at sunshine hour,
drawing nectar from a flower.
Lantern paper wings bestowed,
light emitting prism diodes
Dressed in colors strikingly strong
they live not for very long.
Maybe six months to a year
and new ones come to flutter here.
An artist’s pallet of every hue,
yellow, brown and morpho blue.
Quick lovelies in our sight,
whisper, swiftly. They take flight.
Suddenly capturing human eyes,
in awe of beautiful butterflies.
