But What Do I Know

On those late nights, we shared our thoughts like cigarettes. Your lipstick still adorns my collar, like a red badge of courage. Throughout our lives we never cared enough, so what was one more night to us. It is strange how the times change. If I saw you now, I might not recognize you. I never had good excuses to tell you. We were always searching for something, we could never define. It turns out it was all just a waste of time. I just wanted to make things right, but now I live with this bottled up spite. Things happened to me much too fast. I just wanted to take a moment and make it last. I know complex chemistry and plutonian physics, but I only wish I knew what all my efforts were for.
