Burnt

He didn't catch me I fell to the cold pavement below Grasping for anything to break this free fall or steady my step I was taken by surprise When it turned out this way & now it's too late to go back To that innocence lost It hurts like salt Stinging On an open wound My tears burning down my face With the ferocity of a forest fire ablaze Uncontrolled Terrifying Slowly burning, Stinging with the intensity of two extremes Hot & cold Colliding Bring me to the fire of burning love To rejuvenate my soul & spirit The storm is coming to wake the day Like the matching torment In my soul I cry out in anguish Save me from this horrid pain Why can't it be 'perfect' just like before? Take me back to that place Carefree bliss lost But it was all a big lie A hoax My heart was ripped out A big gaping hole to be filled Never to fully trust again, Secrets not to be told My heart key, Burned I reach to pick it up, But it crumbles in my grasp Ashes blowing away Gone with the winds of change Forever Until I can trust & love again
