Buried In the Red Sea

BURIED IN THE RED SEA The armies of God’s people had left Egypt’s land, They’d seen the mighty power of God’s outstretched hand. But soon there on the journey they then looked behind, Saw Pharoah’s mighty army, and fear came to mind. They cried out then to Moses, “Now what shall we do?” “Stand still--see God’s salvation, for He’ll lead you through.” The waters of the Red Sea were parted that day, And all of Pharoah’s army were then washed away! They’re buried in the Red Sea, they’d see them no more, Now they were free forever on that other shore. The enemy was conquered through God’s saving power; They’re buried in the Red sea in that victory hour! The armies of the devil had conquered my life, I lived in shame and sorrow, in turmoil and strife. But then I came to Jesus, said, “What must I do?” “Stand still, see My salvation, and I’ll lead you through.” And then right there before me He made clear the way: A cross that He had died on, my sin debt to pay; The blood there from it flowing that He shed for me Drowned all of Satan’s armies there in that red sea! They’re buried in the Red Sea, I’ll see them no more! Forgiven and forgotten on God’s holy shore! Now no more condemnation, by grace I’m set free! He cleansed and justified me on Mount Calvary! Some times now in my new life I falter and fail, I let all of those armies of past life prevail. I cry in desperation, “Lord what can I do?” “Stand still, see My salvation, I’ll not forsake you!” I cry out for forgiveness from all of my sin, He cleanses me and fills me with joy once again. And just to reassure me, He says to my past, “As far as east from west now it ever is cast!” They’re buried in the Red Sea, I’ll not see again The failures He’s forgiven, the times that I’ve sinned. Oh, what a great salvation! Forever I’m free; I’ll praise Him up in heaven for eternity! This poem inspired by a speaker at Teen Camp Meeting, Murfreesboro, TN, March, 2006, and music has been written to it.
