Burdened
Rocks bleed mud under the weight of my soles.
My determined step
…gouges the Earth’s wounds.
I am probably a parasite when I think about it.
…Just a pain, for this place to deal with.
All of us are.
My mind wants to go somewhere else.
….Escape this fleshy tomb.
Yet, the harder I kick my feet
…the faster I find my way back.
Paradoxical really.
Fighting to get
…nowhere.
Searching
…to be lost.
Screaming for peace.
Sense was lost a long time ago.
Tracks lain
…are scarred memories.
Calloused hands of time,
tick fiercely forward.
I chase a destiny I’m not fond of.
…Discovery is cheap when everything
feels the same.
Burdened.
