He simply looked at me. When I looked back,
he held that gaze. It nearly made me blush.
For building tension he sure had the knack,
for by the time he left, I had a crush.
He’d smiled with his mouth, but also with his eyes.
I had to know him more. That week I thought
about him all the time. He was a prize
that if I won meant I would have his heart.
He came back twice to where I worked at night.
We talked and flirted; then he asked me out!
The tension building in me I could not fight.
I knew his kiss I could not do without.
We took it slow. When our lips met at last,
it was a kiss that could not be surpassed.
