Bronte Inspiration Collaboration By Jan Allison and Darren Watson

We walk across meadow and moor
Along tracks where horse and carriage once rode
Treading paths where the poets of yore
In search of inspiration once strode.
Lilac and sage scented hedgerow
Old stone wall needs repair
The Bronte's oft walked this furrow
That now with my best friend I share

Side by side in the sunshine we stroll
Even in silence we still keep up our stride
Stopping by the riverside for a drink and a roll
No prejudice in what we say, we still maintain our pride
Enjoying each other’s company for hour upon hour
Coyly smiling you gently take my arm
Stooping down you pick me a delicate flower
Secure in your company; I can’t come to any harm

Arm in arm we retrace the steps of Agnes Grey
We are enveloped in the spirit of Jane Eyre
Heathcliff and Catherine come out to play
We sense both their joy and despair.
In the plush settings of the hotel we dine
Becoming the tenants of Wildfell Hall
Great company, good food and a glass of wine
We are guests at the Bronte Ball.

We become Jane and Mr Rochester that night
Dancing together in demure and graceful style
You look so handsome in the flickering candlelight
Your arm round my waist, it lingers a while
Climbing the stairs to our adjoining rooms
You look at me longingly; there is no haste
Do we become lovers, or is it too soon
Like a Bronte heroine I remain chaste

Deborah If you go on to 'jadazzle united' you can read all our collaboration poems - you will see what fun we have and the total harmony we write in - barely a word or a line gets changed in any of our poems - pure magic to work with Darren :-) I am so lucky to have him in my life. jan xxx

Think Darren wanted a bit of 'bedroom action' but are saving that for our current collaboration. I have suggested we do a part 2 to this one thought. We haven't entered this for the collaboration competition - check out 'Our first meeting in the Isle of Man' -which we wrote first and have entered it in Jared's contest - that is a bit naughty (blushes)

Hi Jan. This Bronte Inspiration is an awesome write. I read Bronte when I was much younger and that was a pleasure indeed. Darren and you did such a good job that I would find it hard to try and separate these verses into Yours & His :) Also followed the conversation that went on under this post...most interesting and jolly. Keep up the good work. // paul

Well, with collaboration like this....you two should never part. WRITE WRITE WRITE more!!! Goodness gracious me!! I'm flying high....Yes, Darren...I can imagine that Jan wants to be CHASED....good play on words! The thing is....after she's been chased...will she be chaste...still? ;)
Date: 4/9/2014 1:49:00 PM
SUPERB...SUPERB...SUPERB...I LOVE THE CLASSICS...I've watched Jane Eyre umpteen times....PRIDE AND PREJUDICE as well...the BBC versions are the best...OH DEAR ME!!! My favorite line here is this: No prejudice in what we say, we still maintain our pride! What genius is this? WOW, you two! Please check my Heathcliff Kind of Love poem. I make mention of Jane, Rochester, Catherine and the rest of the crew. You guys rock!!! "My cherished preserver, GOOD NIGHT..." No one does those lines like Dalton!

THE BRONTE THEME.......ROCKS! Darren...good choice. I love the classics....Nothing can hold a candle to them.......NOTHING! Pride and Prejudice...Sense and Sensibility...OH OH OH...I've written one on that too, but...you'll hate me....I took my own take on that....SCENT and SENSUALITY! HA HA! Oh well....One must try to bring SOME silliness into it....

Darren deserves all the credit for the Bronte theme - he comes up with the first verse of our collaborations and I continue with the second - there was little or no rewriting of verses we are in harmony when we write - I feel very privileged to write with him he's a very special friend. Jan x

Well Eileen, to be honest I think Darren would have preferred a bit of 'bedroom action' but it didn't seem appropriate .. but our next one is in production as we type so watch this space! LOL Have got to say i could watch the Colin Firth version non stop - am probably word perfect now as its often on sky lol. Have had awful afternoon and between you and Darren I have a big grin now.
