Broken Heart

"A dagger of pain, a tear of grief," by Constance La France" Pain, like a dark secret, will descend it cares not how we fit into life a recurring nightmare with no end stabbing senses with razor-sharp knife It transforms joy into hills of strife Myriad ways for grief to consume Disbelief midst the thickness of gloom a flood of tears, like waves being tossed hours alone, darkness fills the room The heart is covered with bitter frost Grief overwhelms as sadness invades it's as if life has closed window shades sadness finds the core of our being fragile hopefulness becomes decayed we need sun's exhuberant healing Letting light in, we begin to feel blossoms, trees, sunsets are again real Brightly, sunlight glows warm on our face Opening eyes, a promise reveals the entire world for us to embrace. You're so nice, Victor! Grief is a personal feeling. I think it may be harder to take when we're young because we're not expecting it. Thanks!

Imagine a heart hurt so badly that it feels it's covered in frost. Oh, pity such a heartbreak that leads us to only feel comfort in darkness. Revealed in your last verse is the hope a brighter tomorrow. Accolades to you, Ann.

No need for sorrow. Your lines come from your inner most feelings. There's absolutely nothing wrong with using 'bitter frost.' It exemplifies exactly what you meant and is just fine as it is. ;-)

I'm sorry, Lin, I misread your comment, probably because I have felt, in retrospect, that the frozen heart part was a bit too much. :)

I agree, Lin--the frosted heart is a bit much :) I may have misread what Constance wants. I think sorrow is difficult to write about. Thanks for commenting.

You write SO well on this theme, Ann. I think Constance will like this a lot.

Ann, you wrote 'bitter frost' and bitter frost it should stay. I wasn't suggesting you change a thing. Our emotions lead us and never be afraid to write them as they come to us.

Or, maybe I overdid it, as Lin seems to suggest. I really, really don't like to write about emotional subjects because I'm never sure what is wanted. Thanks, though. You make me feel better :)
