Love lost seems the most popular subject for a poem.  But so are poems on love.  The spectrum of analysiing love is vast and books have been written on them.  My last poem did not go well with love lost, did it?  So this is my reply.

“I felt that I breathed an atmosphere of sorrow.” ? Edgar Allan Poe My heart is shattered in sadness, Like a jigsaw with missing pieces. I know my soul is irrevocably lost. Oh, how I envy those who casually forgive and forget, and pass to pastures new. But I am not like that. I cannot eradicate my feeble feelings. Like the mists of a dark clouded dawn they linger all day long. I shed no tears; I did not smile. I was like a cold forlorn statue where city doves dirty and rest. Alas there was no rest for me. Gloom, void and sadness engulf me like a dark putrid lake. She came back, tear eyed. I could not forget that she came back. Why did she leave? I never abused her, never hit her, never looked at another for I loved only her. And she came back. Angry, I felt the injustice of it all. I slammed the door on her once and forever. Melancholy enveloped me like winter’s gloom. Inexplicably I decided to search for her. She was not to be found. So why cannot I forgive myself? Why cannot I forget her? Why must I live forever in dark despair? Until I saw her in a church. Tears fell down her sweet smooth face. I knelt down near her. Father, forgive our trespasses As we forgive others. I turned her tearful face And gave her a long kiss on her hot lips.

Oh my, what a poem you have written. It can be hard to forgive but God implores that’s what we do. However long it takes forgiveness will help to mend one’s heartbreak. Beautiful poetry Victor… Belle

Poe lived in a world of sorrow without hope. Most of it of his own making. I don't wish that kind of mood for anyone in which to dwell.

True, it's hard to get over the hurt. Strong emotions are conveyed. Good story telling.

This has a very sweet end. It speaks of love lost and found again and of a lover who in her youth did not know what she wanted from life and went to search for it not knowing she already had it. Now her first love she knows is her only true love but can he forget that he was cast aside but for awhile. Good story, God Bless, JB

A touching poem of remorse and forgiveness. The happy ending has given a sweet feel to the poem which began on a highly melancholic note ! As ever, an arresting poem from the BARD of LOVE....

Victor, You wrote a beautiful poem about real love, but I think people of different generations have different perspectives on what it means. It is no longer possible to feel genuine compassion. Nowadays Calculating materials is of the utmost importance.

There is a lot of "I" did this and "I" did that.It reads like a self indulgence and so I gave up half way
