bring in the rain

bring in the rain her rocking chair was hushed, the metric creaking ceased and sprinkles fell gently like a supple cotton blanket. she no longer smiled. her feeble hands were folded while a sweet summer breeze softly kissed her unyielding lips. persistent raindrops fell singing a final melody to the old lady who waited for the kiss of visiting angels. her journey now complete, the fragrance of roses growing in a parched land beckoned the angels to bring in the rain. tolbert
