Bride and Doom - Qarinage

I was elated at being your wife;
     we walked down the aisle
          both with a huge smile
we’d promised we’d be together for life.
     ‘Twas at her request
           your ex was our guest.
Her eyes pierced us like daggers - if looks could kill!
          She beckoned you over, it made me feel ill ...

          There would be hell to pay

It had twisted her mind your rejection.
     We got in the car
          it was not too far
and arrived at the wedding reception.
     She stood stony faced,
          said you’d got poor taste!
You said ’look we’re through. I’ve just married Hannah,
          please don’t create trouble at Darkwood Manor’

          There would be hell to pay

She sat seething at the wedding table
     then in a foul rage
          leapt onto the stage
I screamed ‘Darling, run if you are able’ ...
     I was so afraid
          She plunged in a blade
Bright scarlet blood began gushing from your heart
            Our marriage vows said until death do us part
                    No one thought I’d be widowed right from the start

          There would be hell to pay...
               Killed on your wedding day

Greg loves the dark side and your winning placement is a testament to your talent. You should do serious writes more often, humour has it's place, but don't sell yourself short by fixating on them!

I wrote the first stanza a few weeks ago and then hit a blank wall with the theme, it was only at the Royal Wedding where one of Prince Harry's ex's attended that I thought of the rest of the poem!:-) hugs jan xx
