Breaking the Silence

Like Black-Cats popping on the 4th of July,
shots broke the peace of the Spring afternoon.
Within an instant chaos erupted,
women screaming, people running in every direction,
bodies lying motionless on the ground.
This small Texas town had become like a battlefield.

Another mass shooting
in a small peaceful community
of a supposedly civilized nation.
Eight innocent people, minding their business,
doing what we all do with our families,
instantly became statistics
in an ever growing list of victims.

These events are seemingly becoming the norm,
happening more and more frequently.
Has our civilized society become so desensitized to violence?
Is this something we must live with for the rest of our lives?

When will this chaos ever end?
...or is this just the beginning of the end?

To the victims of the Allen, Texas mass shooting,
my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Hmm. I wonder that too. Such a tragical thing... nicely written poem!

It seems that the world around us is becoming increasingly violent as time goes by. I miss the innocent days of my young. Thanks for stopping by, Paige, I appreciate you. John

Hi John. So many horrendous acts of violence are happening around the world. Prophecy, as told. Tim 3:3. I fear it will be the way of life until He decrees, "Enough!"

It takes two opposing sides to start a fight that causes chaos. Two wrongs will never make a right. Nobody wins. When will we learn to be more civilized? If ever, as you so rightly state, John Take care, Shirley

John, as one sensible man to another: We know how to end this violence, but we are too afraid to act. Because we are cowards, the bullies run over us. If we show a spine and start imprisoning the guilty and dungeoning the mass murderers, the violence will stop sooner, rather than later. But again, we are 'too sophisticated' to do the right thing. And too immoral to know what the right thing is, truth be told... Pity. ~ Gershon

John, from observation, many think that taking a gun and destroying families, will make whatever issues their going through- just go away. (That is wrong on so many levels). I'm sorry that this has happen in your community. I'm praying for all in need at this time. Your thoughts touch my heart so deeply. My best to you, my dear friend. Hugs, Brandy

Thank you, Brandy, for your comforting words. The people in this area are still reeling and feeling the pain, and asking why… Your thoughts and caring are appreciated. Hugs, John
