Every day when I open up the New York Post or some other local newspaper, I can guarantee you that there is something posted about a crime, murder or something horrible or terrible that has happened the day before. For once in my life I wish that I could read a paper that has nothing but good news to read. Wishful thinking I assume.

People around the world receive genuine hugs from their siblings Two strangers most of us "Don't Know" swap wedding rings A child is born- OMG...it's twins! Somewhere at this moment a "New Life" begins A homeless man finds love with a homeless pup They both take the last sips of water, from an old paper cup A nest of hatched sparrows has cracked shells 'neath, on the ground Someone's lost kitten returned home "Safe-N-Sound" A note in a bottle still floats in the sea Written by someone, perhaps you or me A talented new poetess just wrote her first poem Doodling on paper, alone at her home An old man with a cane helped a woman across the street When they boarded the bus, she then gave him her seat Another day passed and there's no holes in our shoes So nice for a change to hear some nice "Breaking News"

Reminded me of a song.. Its good news week! But Alas, goes on to say " someone's dropped a bomb somewhere contaminating atmosphere and blackening the sky...Yours is so much better Charles, I wish the only thing to report in the news was as in your well penned poem.

Makes me think of that song by Anne Murray, " We Sure Could Use A Little Good News Today." Well said my friend. God Bless, JB

I couldn't have said it better, Charlie. And, you have given us a healthy helping of good news for today because everything you mentioned is happening somewhere as we read.

Fantastically upbeat writing, Charlie. I believe that if we want to live in a peaceful place, we will never find it on Earth because the first breaking news was that Cain slew his brother Abel without knowing how to bury him, and this was for a reason that no one considers in our time: both made a sacrifice, but only Abel's was accepted by God. Just keep hope alive.

Well put, Lasaad. So sad but realistic when you say, "We will never find such a peaceful place here on earth" True be it but indeed we must keep the hope alive! Blessings my friend. Charlie

That to me Charles is what I would love to read in the newspaper. Well done.

Charlie, To wish for a day without tragic news is "...the stuff dreams are made of." Hardly, do I ever listen to the news on any channel, and try to avoid it when it appears online. I fear it's a nightmare of a world that we wake to each morning, which is why we must find something good, even if it's a little thing, to keep hope alive. Well written.
