Boyhood Fantasy

I wanted to be a cowboy So I put on a hat Yet I never learned to ride a horse I wanted to be a policeman So I strapped on a toy gun Yet I was to young to drive a car I wanted to be a fireman I put on a yellow coat Yet I could not walk in the boots Each one a dream A young boy's fantasy Yet none of them ended up being me

I read this the other day, I had to chuckle, I always wanted to be a pilot, bit out of my league really, and ended up in the army, hmmm. It's true we rarely end up where we thought when young, great poem. Take care, Richard

Thanks Richard, in the end we hopefully find some measure of satisfaction in what we are doing. Thanks for your visits today.

Hi, Rick! I had no BOYhood fantasy (^_^) but I can understand you very well! And I'm happy you are a poet now to talk about our humanly conditions! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Hanitra

Hey Rick... I've responded to all your comments. Also to answer your question the Mondo is basically a Questionku but with the second stanza being the answer. Originally it was to be written by two poets (one asks a question the other answers in an interesting way). I answered my own question because I don't know any poets in person... lol.

I remember wanting to be a candy-maker and/or and an archaeologist (kinda odd fantasies at that age, I suppose). In a way I did end up with the candy dream. Every summer I make and sell cotton candy at a baseball stadium... lol. It's fun to reminisce on what we wanted to be long ago... I think it's very rare when those boyhood dreams actually end up being you. Fun little poem...
