"The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to
forgive." ? John Green, Looking for Alaska

Borrowed Words Releasing Past Hurts and Grievances

We fail to recognize the importance of releasing
conflicting emotions. Holding past hurts
and unresolved grievances that do daily haunt us,
like the guilt of losing a loved one or
"What could I have done differently?"

"The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive."

When does the madness end, holding infections
leaving you numb, empty, overwhelm by anger
that threaten the health of the soul, that are trying
and traumatic and hard to let go of its existence?
Choking the blood to veins between birth and death.

These things have a way of working out.
Freeing from the grip of resentment,
bitterness, and the desire for retribution.
By forgiving, we let go of the emotional burdens
that keep us stuck in the labyrinth, allowing us to move
forward with a sense of hope, peace, and healing.

Forgiveness is the end-all throughout one's lifetime, truly a piece well-rendered, and peacefully resonating, Aloha, William.

“By forgiving, we let go of the emotional burdens that keep us stuck in the labyrinth,” As a survivor of child abuse I am deeply aware of and agree with this Eve. You put it so well and clearly! Bravo and best wishes in the contest!

I really like this, Eve. I wonder if it would be a stronger piece if you included some details that made it feel more personal? For example, what conflicting emotions are we releasing and why? How did you come to this epiphany/truth? I'd love to read the details of how you came to these realizations :)

Food for thought, I might just do that.
