Borrowed Words: Powerful

Beware: for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.
        Since young I have been fearless,
                 and standing up for myself;
                         it began in school and beyond.
And with each family death endured I became strong,
        in spirit, and in my faith in God,
                  my roots are deep in the earth;
                          my branches reaching the sky.
I am powerful as that mighty ancient tree beside a stream,
       dipping my leaves (my hair) into water.
