Born Out of My Time
Sometimes I ask,
what if I had been
born sooner than
I was?
If I would have been
born say, 1893, in stead
of 1943, the history
I would have seen.
Would have seen
baseball in its
glory years,
Ty Cobb, Walter
Johnson, Cy Young,
and of course the Babe.
Would have been there
as motion pictures were
coming into their prime,
Charley Chaplin in
his derby and cane.
Wright Brothers
in their hey day,
if I knew then, what
I know now, oh the things
I could have done.
Born out of my time,
maybe, but in my life
I have seen many great
things take place, so
who knows what would
have happened.
