Notes About The Poem

POTD

for Anthony Biaanco's Bone Beach Contest

Bone Beach

where he takes his dates
is undisturbed and concealed
by myriad pines.
left behind, their flesh decays
over time . . . into the sand

Love 'em and leave 'em. Now that statement feels a bit creepy, after reading your thoughts. Congratulations Andrea, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

I do love a good Tanka Andrea, would never have thought of using one in this innovative way, works really well, the title is very clever I see a huge double entendre in there? Congratulations on a great POTD, cheers David

Dates (bones beach victims) could be just a coincidence, I tend to look pretty deep into poems searching for extra layers, this one is quite dark and has many which is very effective

Thanks , David. I had no idea this one be seen by so many people. Not sure if what you saw in my tanka is something I had meant!

More alkaline than pines need to flourish, but a lazy lifestyle produces fewer choices. Consideration for herbivores.

Dear Andrea, How haunting and deserving of POTD!!! Definitely the strength lies in its economy of language and the dark implications it creates with few words. Wow! A great sense of the mundane ("where he takes his dates") with the gruesome reality it unveils. I also truly liked your natural imagery to frame acts of violence, creating a disturbing contrast. A HUGH CONGRATS!! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
