Bone beach
Contest by Anthony Biaanco
Striking beach sculpted by Nature
with massive drifting trees in cluster
that turned white bone-like gesture
being continuous washed by salty sea water
and exposed in strong sunrays to bleach
calling also bone yard beach.
Raw rough whiteness reminding elephant grave yard.
My personal visit ignited feelings of emptiness
Strong sharp whiteness pricked me with pain of long-lost love.
Few beaches carry colloquial names
chicken bone beach owing to
presence of chicken bones
in some segregated shore lines.
History reveals once African- Americans
were not allowed to avail of restaurants,
being bound to make their own food at sea beach,
leaving left overs of chicken bones.
Shameful display of discrimination !
Fossilised remnants or bones of sea creatures
naturally deposited on sandy or rocky beaches
cause sand chips littered with bleached bones.
Natural transformation to bone beach.
High possibility of skeletal remnants
of marine creatures existing in abundance
being abandoned in sea shores.
subject to be bleached on continuous exposure of salinity,
whirling wind and strong sunshine.
If the percentage of bony deposit be high
automatically bone beach to signify
losing natural beauty of beach.
