I love this, Andrea! On the surface, it reads like a scene at my back yard feeder. Below the surface I admire your clever use of the words "cardinal" and "communion".. ingenious, my friend. Congratulations for your wonderful win in Brian's contest.. ~Susan

What a wonderful and delightful description of "communion" at the bird feeder! We get a variety of birds but there is one, lone squirrel that has figured out our plan to keep him away and he seems to case away the birds! Congratulations on your win!

Not sure how I missed this gem; my cardinals overtake the lone blue jay at my house; however, there may be hope. A couple of days ago I saw two blue jays which I had never seen. Usually it is 7 cardinals and one blue jay here; congratulations on your win. Loved this visual Andrea!

This is a new take on blue jays. I have never imagined eight of them together but can picture them now babbling like babies. Congratulations Andrea! :)

Nice one. And the birds are like humans, probably squabbling. Yet there is food for all the birds. Kind wishes, Kai

I'll bet that was one loud church service! Or perhaps a republican surrounded by 8 democrats, haha! ... Nice haiku, Andrea.
