Tom, They are a beautiful bird. I don't see them very much in my yard. He landed on the side of the bird water bath and looked like he was asking a question as to what had happened to the water. Sara

Poor bird, Sara... I have a birdbath on my lawn, it hardly gets cold here in Houston Texas, however we had some snow... (lol for a few hours) we had a few freezing days. The water was frozen, and the birds weren't to be found. I wonder why... Enjoyed reading your haiku... Linda

PD, Thanks for dropping by..We haven't gotten as cold as it does get here some winters in a few years but it has been cold here this past few weeks but better today cloudy though..If you want to see birds in winter you have to put out seed and have some water for them..Many species migrate to a warmer area in the winter..I put out some seed and I had house finches(red breasted finch), cardinals, blue jays, brown thrashers, sparrows and some more that I could not tell the species..I don't hear their songs though..Sara

SS, Still cold here..I have been taking out a cup of hot water and pouring it onto the bird's water to try to thaw it some so they can get a drink after they eat seeds but it doesn't stay thawed long about an hour..I am not sure if it thaws during the day when it warms up or not but I think it does stay thawed for a few hours..Sara

Michael, The birds have not experienced frozen water in several winters here in the south..It is still cold here..Thanks for dropping by.. Sara..Computer still in the shop..
