Blood Red Rose

My heart is like a blood red rose
I let its petals cup my pain
Its thorns sharp and unexpected
My tears mix with the falling rain

The dragon still breathes with fire
After all this time I feel the burn
I gave my love a blood red rose
And now here I'm dying in return

Oooh, very powerful, LNC. Especially the ending. Great imagery in both verses -- love the line about the dragon. I guess when you play with dragons, you have to expect to get burned. Heartwrenching quatrain! Love, Carolyn

Great piece, very dramatic and powerful. I could feel the pain in heart as I read this.
