Blind Faith

Blind Faith So, even the expression, blind faith, makes my blood boil. I've had one too many conversations with "intellectuals" who disdainfully look down on us believers for believing in a Creator. They imply by the expression blind faith, that we do not have the mental capacity to think or to reason, that we blindly, or naively, are lead to believe in God without any proof. They say that believing in an invisible person, or force is foolishness, a mere childlike fantasy nothing more. One commentator said "I used to have an imaginary friend, when I was a child, but I grew up, and no longer believe in fairy tales, and imaginary sky friends, like God". Firstly, I would say that it is not foolishness, to believe in invisible forces. Science has proven the existence of radio waves, gravity, magnetic attraction, electricity, wi-fi, and on and on goes the list. So it is not the intellectually weak-minded who believe in invisible forces, it is all rational people. To be frank, if there is no Originator of life, no Initial Causer, Creator, or Intelligent Designer, then what is left? What initiated life? Chance you say! Ok, let's look at random chance as the initiator of life. Ask any scientist what are the mathematical probabilities, that life, even in it's most rudimentary form came about by chance, they will tell you the odds are trillions to one, over billions of years! So let me get this straight, believing in a great Causer, when we see the effect (us, life as we know it) is unreasonable, but according to them, it is more reasonable to conclude, that life came from nothing at all, and the odds are trillions to one against it, and that it is a fact. Interestingly, mathematics professors will tell you that 10 billion to one odds, is the limit, beyond that it is not only improbable, but rather, mathematically impossible to happen. So, to prove God exists, all we need to do, is do the math! It is mathematically impossible that life came by random chance. For those that believe it to be true...sounds a little like...hmmm...... blind faith! John Derek Hamilton May 16,2017

I like how you turned the tables on this debate. None of this is random. I've added some things to my poem "Gold in her Pale Blue Sky".

Thanks Leanne, yeah I like this one too. Too many "intellectuals" discount belief in a Creator as rubbish. They have invented a new conclusion, that "the universe has a conscious mind", wow, now a mind without a being directing that mind, or organizing thoughts, this coming from conscious minds, I wonder if they have bodies?

Nice reasoning John, and I am a non-believer:) If your faith makes kinder, wiser, stronger, if it brings joy and fulfillment to your heart and soul and overall brings the best out of you . . . then who can argue against that? I believe in being respectful of other's beliefs, cultures, and sensitivities, and not hastily passing judgement on others:) Amitiés

Sorry, John if that came across the wrong way. What I meant was that there are so many people out there 'branding' others, like these people who dismissed your belief as 'blind faith' or childish; and - I know I'm a forever dreamer, a hopeless idealist - but I wish people could embrace their differences and learn more from one another.

Thanks, Anne-Marie, I agree with you, and I do believe that everyone needs to be respected, and I'm glad you do. I do to... however, this piece is in response to an individual, it is not to be construed as a blanket statement of judgement to all non believers. It is after all a mathematical explanation. Thanks for the kind visit!

Something or someone lit the fuse to all that is, why is that concept so hard to rationalize? Very well done John, great vision to your faith...

Thanks Charlie, yes it's not too hard to understand, but some I guess don't want to answer to a higher power, that's the only reason I can think of for denying the existence of a Creator.

Love the reasoning, and enjoyed the humour with which you present it. I may not believe in a God, but science and mathematics sure don't have all the answers.

Thanks for the visit Scott, wow I'm intrigued now about what you believe! I know many give up on the Creator because of how Creationist's depict him as presented in the Bible, but you may be surprised how the Bible does agree with real science on the matter! Soupmail if you would like more information!

Well, fictitious or not. I, will believe God loves us both John. Until, the day it is proven different. :)

So true Jeremy, it's funny the odds of life coming by chance is like winning the lottery a million times consecutively, or like getting struck by lightning for a million days straight, it just doesn't add up!

Well written, John, and I believe as you do. There is too much evidence that God exists to ignore it. Only those without faith are blind to His existence.

So true Lin, thanks for the visit! I really dislike the condescending attitude when speaking to such ones, it tries my patience, but we still must try to help them! Thanks for the positive comment!

Very cleverly put John; they say they don't believe in God but then you hear them slip out a thank God every now and then! (One of my co-workers who used to be an atheist but is now a believer!)~Che :)

Thanks Cheryl, this is a subject that is so easy to understand, there is an effect, so there must be a cause, that's basic science. It just proves that those who reject the Creator it is not because of lack of evidence, rather lack of humility!
